I Just Write Songs About People Poem by Francis Duggan

I Just Write Songs About People

Rating: 5.0

I've never been a great athlete nor wrapped myself in glory
And I know when my days are done that I'll not live in history
And I've never been a football great like Pele or Jerd Muller
I'm just an ordinary bloke the duller type of duller.

I'm not renowned for anything and what makes it more sadder
That I am low in social rank at the foot of social ladder
I'm looked on as social misfit and frowned upon with scorn
But that doesn't make me rue the fact that I was ever born.

I've never climbed the highest hill nor scaled the highest steeple
And I ask for nought but paper and pen to write songs about people
And if you enjoy reading my doggerels then my effort's not been wasted
And I'll feel in some way satisfied that success I have tasted.
