I Know My People Poem by Kagiso Mogale

I know my people! ! ! !
As sad as it may sound, truth needs be told that I've been through fire.
Life as harsh as it may have been, it has been a great teacher.
It taught me to choose living no matter what,
it taught me to love boldly,
it taught me to laugh carelessly despite the troubles,
it taught me to FORGIVE,
and life gave me true wisdom when it taught me to never FORGET:
those who walked out,
those who stepped in
those who shut their doors,
those who opened theirs,
and those who saw it fit to kick a dog when it's down.
I will not forget any of the people I've crossed paths with
I will not forget the kind of emotions they brought to me
I will continue to love them all.
Life has taught me to become a man of knowledge
I NOW KNOW MY PEOPLE
