The Poison Loneliness Poem by Kagiso Mogale

The Poison Loneliness

Rating: 4.2

The poison loneliness
Is you and I prisoners alike
Held captive by imaginations
Hallucinating as the bloody experts tell
Deep in the dungeons we dwell
Where hearts swell
With constant headaches
Reminding me
Reminding you
That the future is uncertain

Have you seen your neighbour?
Cared to ask?
Neighbour
Care to ask and learn
The world is not yours alone
Vanity is a cruel addiction
And you will see
You and I are prisoners alike
Poisoned by our own ambitions
