I Know Of A Man Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

I Know Of A Man

Rating: 5.0

I know of a man, who waited six years,
For the woman he loved.

He wanted so much to love her, and make her happy.
She was afraid, she had been so abused.
To open her heart, was like opening old wounds.

She wanted so much to let him in,
But every time she tried, the walls would cave in.

This man, he has stamina, and kept right on trying,
Till one day, they made a breakthrough,
And he said;
I love you more than I have ever loved anyone,
I am not giving up on you.

And in the veneer,
that surrounded her heart,
a crack appeared.

And a smile that beamed from ear to ear,
though he could not see, he could, hear.

You are going to have to trust me, and open your heart.
I want to make you happy, take you new places.
I want you to laugh, meet new faces.

She is fragile, and strong, in very different ways.
Would rather fight a tiger, than communicate.

Saying how she feels, makes her hyperventilate,
Loving someone gives them power, and then, it’s too late.
But give him her love, she will.
Trusting will be like learning a new skill,
But she will.
