I look into my eyes—
in the mirror,
Unflinching,
as the stare remains steady,
the mind unwavering.
Hoping to unveil
what is hidden within—
my truest self,
The child who once played
in the cradle of dreams.
I search for him,
to hold him once again,
Lull him with soft songs
to calm his heart,
And let him stay in dreams,
pure and peaceful,
Dreams that set my soul at ease.
My mouth curves into a smile,
my eyes squint,
Like a child nestled in the lap of a mother,
Giggling, my chest rising and falling,
As I breathe deeply,
like the breeze in a lavender field—
Smiling through dreams, held in peace.
Praying never to sleep,
to always gaze upon her loving face,
When I wake.
