I'm Terrified Of Death Poem by Kelvin Rush

I'm Terrified Of Death

What will it be like to not be here
It's impossible to imagine it fills me with fear
Some turn to religion and fall under the spell
Believe in the afterlife re-incarnation heaven and hell

When you don't believe in anything
What are you supposed to do
You're all alone no peace no home
There's nothing to hold on to

It's such a solitary existence
When you have no reason to live
Nothing makes sense you get no recompense
You can't let go or forgive

The outward path is a mystery
A journey with no purpose or cause
Collecting possessions never learning the lessons
Defending what you feel is yours

Getting attached to emotions
When impermanence is never far away
You're in the losing game full of guilt and pain
You get hurt but you still want to play

I sleep with no hope of resurrection
I await my final breath
I only exist through the spiritual mist
I confess I'm terrified of death
