I Miss You Poem by Turuz Hautapu

I Miss You

"Hi, It's been a while, how are you?
I'm fine, thanks, my family is great. No, nothing new with me it's still pretty much the same"
I feel my eyes betray what my mouth is saying
"What about you? What are you doing with yourself these days? Oh cool, so, is there anything new with you? "
My heart beats faster and my mind whirls uncontrollably
"Cool, I heard your sister had her baby, what did she name him? That's a cool name, oh, your brother told me when I saw him in town but baby had no name then"
My hands get sweaty and my knees get wobbly
"Well I better go now; I'm going to meet the girls, yeah, you too, bye"

As I watch you walk away I silently break down
The little things about you come flooding back with the storm of feelings that rush in
I turn slowly and walk to my car wishing this was a movie; if I was the lead lady and you the lead man
You'd run back yelling out to me, then sweep me into your arms and kiss me and we'd be together for the rest of our lives
There'd be a slideshow of happy moments in our lives while slow but happy music plays in the background
Instead, I'm sitting in my car shaking myself out of these silly thoughts
