I Must Say Poem by Randy McClave

I Must Say

I must say
Did you post a flag this Memorial Day,
In appreciation to all our soldiers
The wounded, the fallen, and those getting older.
Did you post a flag for your support
For our fighting men and women who wouldn't abort,
And how they proudly served
Their bravery and honor our country observed.
Do you have a flag flying
Or a post of our proud banner everyone is eyeing,
Showing all our soldiers we appreciate
In every U.S State.
This I will patriotically and proudly tell
My father served and fought in a war, its hell
And so did my cousins and my uncles, my dad's brothers
And so did over a million others.
They fought, they swore, they prayed, and they cried
And they screamed, they starved, they were wounded and died,
They shedded their sweat and even their blood
For strangers and family and friends and a country loved.
One thing I must say that I cannot understand
When I and others proudly salute the flag with our hand,
How can anyone support any accuser
Who called or calls any of our U.S soldiers a loser.
