I No Longer Fish Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I No Longer Fish

I wanted more to be with you,
Than anyone other.
But the way I went about it,
Left you suspicious and in doubt.
And as time has passed by,
You have discovered to find out...
I was neither in desperation.
Nor was I fishing with common bait.
And here today you appear to believe,
After years of being by others deceived...
That I've been awaiting from you to receive,
A feeling for me you say wont leave.
Well...
I wanted more to be with you,
Than anyone other.
But the way I went about it,
Left you suspicious and in doubt.
And as time has passed by,
You have discovered to find out...
I was neither in desperation.
Nor was I fishing with common bait.
I can only admit with this to honestly say,
Not only has that bait deflated.
But I've also lost my taste for fish.
I no longer fish to wish it or even miss.
