I Pity Them The Children Of The Present Poem by Francis Duggan

I Pity Them The Children Of The Present

I pity them the children of the present
Due to climate change tough times may be ahead
The Planet getting drier and much warmer
Yet we ignore what climate experts have said

About the consequence of our in-action
The warnings of the climate experts we ignore
The polar ice caps sad to say are melting
At the far north and the far southern shore

Many species are in danger of extinction
And extinction as we know is forever more
One cannot see much hope for the Planet that we do live off
Where human greed is so much to the fore.

I pity them the children of the present
By carbon emissions climate change we've brought about
Due to polluting by humans climate change is occuring
Throughout the Planet north, east, west and south.
