I Pray, Weep, And Bleed For Our Compatriots Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Pray, Weep, And Bleed For Our Compatriots

I pray, weep, and bleed for our Compatriots,
Because most of them are very hungry,
Thirsty, inebriated, sick, and exploited.

I pray, weep and bleed at the first light of the sun,
To praise God, ‘cause yesterday was not the finality
Of our world. We are blessed with a new awakening.

I pray and pay tribute to the Poets, who were cowardly mistreated,
Beaten, kicked, shackled, slapped, humiliated, exiled, denigrated,
Arrested, Imprisoned, molested, murdered, vilified, and executed.

I weep and pay tribute to the forgotten homeless in the mean streets,
To the young people without a future, and to the peasants of the plains,
Who have no water to wash and rinse their half-blinded eyes in distress.

I bleed and pay tribute to the women, who were mistreated and beaten
By their wild and abusive spouses. Our women, the queens of beauty
Have suffered a lot. I thank them for the miseries they've endured.

I pray, weep and bleed for the martyred writers, who've loved the sad country,
For the brave poets and patriotic soldiers, who have heroically lost their lives,
And for our elders and ancestors, who've sacrificed themselves for a better future.

And when dies the President, who could have saved so many lives,
And spared us so many sufferings, hindrances and horrible pains;
I meditate for a long time, ‘cause the Providence is still sovereign.
