I Prayed Poem by Randy McClave

I Prayed

I am not lucky at all
But, luck is always on my side,
Seldom do I ever fall
And from problems I never hide.
I carry no good luck charms
Over my shoulders I've never tossed salt,
I have never crossed my arms
For bad luck to halt.
I never carried a rabbits foot in my pocket
Nor have I wished upon a falling star,
I have never carried a clover in a locket
Or put a tooth in a jar.
I do not believe in a good luck fairy
But, I believe in God and his son
When from sadness I want to tarry
I know that I have already won.
I am the happiest man that I know
And it's not because of superstition
Though I still have sadness, sickness and woe
God, is my physician.
I do not believe in luck
Wishes, I have never made
Even though around me misfortune runs amuck
You have no idea how much to God I have prayed.
