I Searched For God Poem by Francis Duggan

I searched for God around me everywhere
Searched for him in the woods but did not see him there
Searched for him in the river the stream and the rill
Did not see him there so I climbed up the hill
And gazed on the countryside all around me
But God he was not there him I could not see
I searched for God on the blossoming trees
Buzzing with the sounds of nectar gathering bees
Searched for him on the beaches and the park by the bay
But God from my eyes was well hidden away
Then I met a woman the years had left gray
Her beautiful smile and cheery hello brightened up my day
One who shared her gift of happiness so lovely and kind
In her I see God in her God I did find.
