“i Seem Happy” Poem by Munia Khan

“i Seem Happy”

I seem Happy

For my misery never deprives me of my smile

The shadowy flame of the smile ignites

And my grief never forces me to change my style.

I seem Happy

As my happiness has chained me to its side

The strongest chain of a series of connected woes!

And my state of bliss in chains deserves no pride

I seem Happy

Since no expression is able to reach my lips

Only a weeping whim shrouded with joy

And my feeling’s been inflicted by those of the flips!

Written on the Evening of the 8th of April,2010.
