I Shouldn't. Poem by Carl Roussell

I Shouldn't.

Rating: 5.0

I felt a cool breeze flow across my face.
The Sun wasn't so warm it burned my skin,
And I felt comfortable in that place.
My heart felt so free, my eyes were open.
Like a cloud up there I saw you, and then
The Sun was covered, I couldn't face it.
I should have found shelter, but I stayed when
I couldn't walk, couldn't turn from, stop it.
I fell when I couldn't stand, couldn't sit.
I'd fallen too far into you, too far.
Blue eyes turn blue skies grey, I couldn't turn,
And now see how my soul bears the scar; you.
I shed a tear for us now and what wasn't.
I cry a tear for you though I shouldn't.
