I think the breath of life
is the foundational breath;
every other breath being—
but a shadow of this breath.
At all times, to be honest,
we inwardly aspire:
we must live, not die.
We stop our minds
from reminding us
of the coming hour of death,
so we live freely
as if the final bell won't ring.
And that denial of death
surely improves our capacity
to enjoy life's present time.
When our present time
comes so very close to us
with its song and light,
our denial of death instills
great hope in us to align with
our life's divine purpose.
In the utter presence
of divine's profound hope,
our capacity to accept
all of life unconditionally
suddenly overcomes,
making our present breath
the most perfectly peaceful
and joyful of our entire life.
My deepest ambition,
the top item on my bucket list,
is to be consciously present
for the transcendent moment
and not lose perfect consciousness.
