I Thought It Was You Poem by Charlie F. Kane

I Thought It Was You

I had to do a double-take
And look again,
Just to make sure,
Because for a second
I thought it was you.

She looked like you.
Her hair was the same as yours
Her walk and her manner
Made me think it was you.
Even the shoes were the same.

For a moment,
I thought you’d waltzed back,
Returned to my horizons
As if you’d never been away
And the past was forgotten.

But when I saw her face,
I knew it wasn’t you.
When I looked again
She was nothing like you at all.
But for a second,
I thought it was you.

I loved it! Sometimes the thoughts of someone makes us feel and see that person surrounding us, very well expressed. Thanks!
