I Told Her Poem by Randy McClave

I Told Her

I always treated her right
I even taught her how to fight,
And I taught her to stand toe to toe
She then hit me with a low blow.

I told her that I never did lie
As I looked her strait in the eye,
And I truly believed no one would lie to me
Then she did constantly.

I told her I kept my promises and my word
Whenever it is ever spoken or heard,
A promise to me is an oath paid
Then she broke every promise she made.

I told her that I never cheated
Onto any partners heart I never mistreated,
Then in her I truly believed
Then on me she cheated and deceived

I told her that I never stole or robbed
From thievery never created one tear sobbed,
I told her thievery could destroy the very soul
Then from me she stole.

I told her I never smoked, took drugs or drank alcohol
To those addictions I would never stumble or fall,
Then when my truths she wanted to debunk
She got high and also drunk.

I told her that I worship the Lord Jesus Christ
Because of my pleas she went with me to church twice,
She never ever went again
Because, she enjoyed sin.

I told her she did me harmful and wrong
But, I didn't hate her for that long,
I forgave her, as being a forgiving Christian and wise
Then about me she made up stories and told lies.

I never told her goodby or even farewell
As in depression and into sadness I fell,
I still remember the day that she went away
And for her, I still do pray.
