I Treasure The Gift Poem by Gary James Smith

I Treasure The Gift

Rating: 5.0

I Treasure The Gift

I treasure the gift of eternal life
Through Jesus Christ my Lord
So thankful for His sacrifice
In the shedding of His blood
For He did not hold Himself back
From the affliction of God's wrath
But bore the crown of prickly thorns
And the smiting on His back

With deep humiliation
To be hung upon a Cross
In open shame before His captors
For our gain He endured the cost
Though King of Kings and Lord of lords
He kept His power at bay
And did not call upon the angels
To deliver Him that day

Still forgiveness flowed through His veins
The very nature of God
Not one ounce of hatred there
But the outpouring of wondrous love
For God my Saviour became a man
What glory in so great Salvation
Then to show Himself alive again
The Author and Finisher of Creation!

Hallelujah... What a Saviour!
