I Tried To Train My Tongue Poem by Sue Sure

I Tried To Train My Tongue

I TRIED to train my tongue,
But my pen was quicker,
Tired to libate as encouragement
but I have no taste for liquor
Now I only speak my mind,
If the words are rightly rhymed
or can be said in time
I wasn't always this young
I used to think I was older
I suffered from an ego death, the likes of which you can't prevent
I can't tell if the past upsets/resets/prevents
Or just becomes irrelevant

'I can't tell if the past upsets/resets/prevents Or just becomes irrelevant' It depends on what the past is/was. bri : ) : )

LINE 3: 'tried: , not 'tired'[sic]. I, too, make typos! I've heard of libation; now I've heard the verb libate. : ) bri Welcome to PH.
