I’ve Suffered Enough, God Knows! Poem by Konstantin Ananin

I’ve Suffered Enough, God Knows!

- What a terrible noise early
On Sunday morning! Dolly!
- Mr. Tulip is banging
A nail. He is trying
To drive it in the front wall
And to hang something.
_____________________- His gall
Is unmitigated!
______________________- I see.
- But he has driven me crazy!
Dolly! Then I drove my pigs
To a fair market!
________________- But Pete!
Why?
_______- Because I bought the worst
House here!
____________- Don’t curse!
- Oh! Once I hung in the wind
When that land agent was calling
It the best!
___________- The ladder’s fallen!
Ah! Mr. Tulip has hung on
The nail!
__________- I’m glad to hear that!
- Oh! His face is turning red!
Help him, Pete!
_______________- No! Let him fall!
As I will do nothing at all!
- It’s too late! He fell full length!
____________________________- Phew!
Sure?
_______- Yes!
_____________- Aha! That’s good news!
