I Wait And Wait (With A Heart Resigned) Poem by Kevin Hulme

I Wait And Wait (With A Heart Resigned)

Rating: 5.0

How long to endure this torment to stay;
My waiting spent and late the day.
For the evening crawls forever at a pace;
Like a dawdling child in high disgrace.
I Wait and Wait with a Heart resigned,
But She has not come that Love of mine.
Now the Shadows lengthen to hush the day;
With Pearls of lamps to light the way,
Was something said, a word amiss,
A lifetime short in a parting Kiss?
I Wait and Wait with a Heart resigned,
But She has not come that Love of mine.
Her hand I held until the next embrace,
A lasting look to her impassioned face.
And spoke of devotion from the depth of the Heart;
The fervent pains that tear apart.
I Wait and Wait with a Heart resigned,
But She has not come that love of mine.
What blackened crime has cast me out;
Some broken law, a seed of doubt.
She's claimed my all that a Soul can yield,
The surrender of self the whole revealed.
I Wait and Wait with a Heart resigned,
But She has not come that Love of mine.
‘I am a weary a weary' by the fading light,
By her silken words I once more recite:
‘Until tomorrow I'll will give you my vow;
Such constant faith to you endow'.
I Wait and Wait with a Heart resigned,
But She has not come that Love of mine.
