I Waited For You Poem by Nick Kler

I Waited For You

After your promises
Your reassurances
I painted the whole house
I bought food you loved

I waited and waited
So anxiously,
upon the foot steps
All through the night

But, you never showed up
I thought to myself
Maybe you got stuck
Maybe you missed your flight

Better luck next time
So I slowly fell asleep
Upon freshly polished floors

They are of no use to me
Without you, My Little
