I Walked Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

I Walked

Years ago
over hills
and streams
I walked

No bus
thumb ride
or bike
I walked

Legs carried me
everywhere
barely broke a sweat
rarely did I care...I walked

Went to war
walked a klick or two
through jungles and rice paddies
I walked

For many years
on foot
I tread
I walked

Now I'm old
bending at the knees
legs carry me still
I Walk.
