I Wanna Be A Tree Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

I Wanna Be A Tree

Rating: 3.0

I Wanna be a Tree
Coming from the earth
Climbing to the sun
Rain running down me
Sap running up me
With arms for birds
to sit on to sing on
With bark to make
Canoes and boats
And cooking fires
I want to sit beside
The river running
And give shade
To the travellers
Both weary and hot
On two legs and four
And draw up cool
Fragrant water for
My thirsty leaves
And I'll live for
Countless years till
I die and lay covered
In soft green moss
And become a home
For small furry things
All and sundry
May live in me
And shelter will
I give even when dead
To my little residents
From the hot sun
The cold rain
And the roamers
Of the dark night.

How absolutely lovely! I love every word of this - and I SOOOOOOOOOOO relate to it! Stunning photograph! What wealth! Makes me want to feast my eyes and thoughts individually for a while on each tree, creeper, plant and any creatures visible on them!

Diana. This is an wild winding little use track through the less accessible part of the high rainfall Daintree National Park close to where I live.. it is impenetrable in most parts but it is the most complete jungle that I have seen anywhere.Best part about it. is less than half a days drive from my house in my truck. I am happy that you liked my photo and my story. Cheers Geoffrey.
