Savvy my old girl
Has been crook
Bleeding from the mouth and
Acute Pancreas inflammation.
So bad in fact, she
has been camping at the vets for
some days where she won some
more hearts. She is 15 now….so wow.
Anyway she is one tuff old hound
and is back now with her mum
In the tropic mountains
Not too long a way from me
She came to visit me yesterday.
She barked at me to sit next to her
Then told me with her eyes
And her tongue about
Her hospital stay and stuff.
She is tougher than old tyres this pup
Last night with my hand on her back
I dreamt of her and me
on all those Territory back roads
And Cape York wild lands
Talking to the sunsets,
trees and other
worthwhile things.
Smiles. Please give her a hug too, from her Auntie Di from across the HUUUGE water bowl. Thank you for checking on the cow in the TRUCK! ! ! poem.
I SO VERY MUCH relate, the precious, beautiful, darling dogalog! So now I nearly forgive you for the poem about the TRUCK! ! !
She is so so so beautiful this old dog of mine and thanks for your near forgiveness Diana....! ! !
I called her a pup from day one and it is hard to get out of the habit...! Thank you Doug for reading and I am happy that you enjoyed this poem Cheers, Geoffrey.
Tougher than old Tyres A beautiful write. They are part of the family.
Lyn, they are so much that. she has been my support for all those years. Thank you so much for reading. Cheers, Geoffrey.
Geoffrey, I love this poem. I love dogs, although there is no place for one where I live now. My son has a German Shepherd that is about 15 years old, and will probably not last much longer. She is the best-behaved dog I have ever seen. Congrats on having this selected as member poem of the day. Well done!
Kim...The older they get the sweeter the nature they develop. Wisdom seems inherent eh my friend? Always a pleasure to read your comments. Geoffrey.
