I Want Poem by Eddie Rodgers

On a day long from now, I want to look back and see I left this world in a better condition then when I arrived. That the trees are a little greener, the air a little cleaner, and the people a little friendlier. I want people not to be afraid to show individuals who they really are, and their true potential. To feel free to shoot for their dreams and aspirations, knowing that though they maybe far away their still in reach, and it takes just time to get there. I want to be able to look at some one of a different race and color and call him my brother and the female my sister, for them to know that in me they can trust to never deprive them of love and affection, and be able to trust that I can hold their deepest secret that they wouldn’t even tell the sea. I want equality for all men and women, to know that though we hold these truths to be self evident we are all created equal, that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. I want the color of our skin to be looked at as just another cloud on a hot and sunny day or a misty foggy rainy May. I want to be hated with thought, than to be opposed for senselessness. I want to stand for something than just to be a man who stood, for my daughter to know wow my father made a difference and to look at me and not want to be like me but better in every way possible. To allow some one to say that your eyes haven’t seen it all, but then turn around and reply, ” Yes! But they have seen enough”. I want to test the limits of my dreams set new boundaries and heights, that when you think of them you work harder just to by pass mine. I want to swim to the furthest depth of the sea, to explore the world around me, fly to the moon and above the stars, even find out if there’s life out beyond mars. I want to be misunderstood to always keep one guessing what is he going to do next, to know that I view a change in this world and will do whatever it takes to make sure my voice is heard. I want to be known for a man who will stand for what was right not matter the sacrifice nor hardship I would have to endure. I want to feed and heal the world to put a smile on those faces of children and men and women who are suffering, and assure them there is someone who cares. I want to share down to my very last thought to the world, showing and proving that logic is the key to my success, and that my thoughts, dreams, and ideas are the only thing in life no one can steal nor take away from me or you. That we own the key to that door, but if we fail to utilize all that we have around us these thoughts and dreams become just what they are called, nothing more nothing less but bound to a mind of could have should have would have but didn’t! Only to stored like buried treasures at the bottom of the sea, only to be forgotten about by the likes of u and me. I want this for the world not just my self, something the world can hold onto when it seems nothing else is left. This is what I want and this is my dream it may not be what you want and you may not really know what I mean. What I mean is that I can want all these things and million more, but just wanting this gets me no where but back to a closed door. Anyone would have to want to exceed expectations and go pass what’s norm, because if you fail to plan then you obviously plan to fail and unfortunately that’s just a common place that this world seems to dwell. So ill continue to want these things until I take my final breathe seemingly when there’s nothing of me but a thought that’s left!
