I Want To Sing A Canary Love Poem by Mark Heathcote

I Want To Sing A Canary Love

I want to sing a canary love
Till a miner's light falls under your spell
And a symphony -hums into echoes
And mists till my breath stops heavy
And beats again but without oxygen,
And chemically I'm bound like atoms.
To your gaze begging, I don't miss
The last glimpse before your eyes or mine falls heavy.

I want to sing a canary love
And cherish what we had.
And live it again and again.
I want to sing a canary love
And marry your every step
Your every shadow likens it-
was never meant to be a concerto
Sang by soloists, a dead canary
That's more -sensitive than it has sense.

I never want to be in love with a dead canary.
I want to sing a canary love
A song that expels the darkness unparalleled
And lights up your heart
I also never want to be a dead canary.
I only wanted to coexist with someone I love.
And sing like all the stars shining above.
Have -been shining like opals in the darkness only for us.
