I Was Happy Today Poem by Raj Dronamraju

I Was Happy Today

The sun goes down on a point of difference
Uneasy rider can't pinpoint the difference
Uneasy rider holds the reins of an unfamiliar mount
I was happy today

Not used to a lighter feeling
The same old same old makes one hard and indifferent
So much so you don't notice the joy of a new scene until it's over
I was happy today

Bless the word "bless" and a willingness to give up control
Go to sleep easily without thrashing around in your blankets
Nor the heaviness of waking up from deep, disturbing dreams

Instead follow this as long as it lasts
Skip around the countryside like a seven year old boy
Singing Scottish folk songs
"all of a sudden, a great meelypuddin' came flying through the air"
