I Wish Poem by Mark Heathcote

I Wish

I wish I could pause between these shadows.
Between today and yesterday, without any regret
I wish I could rest in your arms again.
I wish I could feel the touch of your skin.
I wish I could swim between these tears.
And remain afloat, but it's all too fleeting, loving you.
Holding on to something and then, darling, just nothing.

I wish I could let another day begin.
With the touch of your skin
And have no misgivings.
I wish I could pause between these shadows.
Between today and yesterday, without any regret
I wish I could rest in your arms again.
But you treat me like I've got no feelings.
And I should wait for the caress of your lips.

Well, darling, I'm leaving.
Keep your infrequent moments; I don't -like the rain.
I prefer the sunnier moments when you're not falling.
When you're not destructive and filled with rage
I wish I could pause between these shadows.
Between today and yesterday, without any regret
But once again, I'm in remorse, looking into your eyes.
Displaced—with my lipstick on your face.
Dealing with geometry and geography, and no place to live.
