I Wish To Go Back Poem by Ehsan Ehsan

I Wish To Go Back

I WISH TO GO BACK
I am now old my grandson
Seventy eight years of my life
Have been elapsed in mad pursuits
Yet I wish to play with you
Going back to my childhood again
But how is it possible now?
This world has made me too serious
No, I will not accept it so
Let me make another attempt
To collect myself and my scattered pieces
I try to get back those bursts of joy
Those rosy lips and that shining face
That eager spirit and the mirthful jests
With the dark blue playful eyes
Those coaxing smiles and dauntless brows
Let me become the same gentle, shy and fond
Let me have those common simple treasures again
Those earthly pleasures and wishful love
Faithful and true tears and natural piety
Let me become a true copy of you
Lo! I am just like you, your playful mate
Let us play and enjoy life as it is!
