I Would Love To Write A Novel

I would love to write a novel
where a lady character would say
you cant change your life you know
just by putting up some new drapes
drapes, not curtains
very important distinctions you know
like sofa or divan or plebian couch.
or grand piano or music stand
with ghosts or without
the ghost of Chopin, for instance showing up
every time it rains
as if this were a play.
or taking a stand for something
you wont be noticed for in public
but reprimanded for in private
losing jobs. gaining a Soul.
reserving the right to see God on every hand
well, yes. why not. with your own conscience
and if you think I mean social issues you are wrong.
I mean other things. like not perjuring your own soul.
like not trading your real face in for a
professional demeanor whatever that means.
and by the way the drapes were moss green
with big pink unabashed roses.
