I Would Rather Be Ordinary Old Me Poem by Francis Duggan

I Would Rather Be Ordinary Old Me

Rating: 5.0

I would not like to be admired by many as a person of great wealth and fame
And people who to me are strangers would greet me on the street by name
Though many do crave admiration to be looked up to and well known
I would rather be ordinary old me and live my personal life as my own
Thankfully i am not wealthy and famous since in life this is not my due
Since then i would have many friends and admirers and i would not know the false from the true
It is good to walk on the town street where to many i am a stranger by sight
Where some do greet me as a stranger with a good morning good day or good night
Though i would like to have lots of money without the fame with it that goes
But nobody can have everything such is life one has to suppose
I have been luckier in life than most have to say different would be a lie
So many more than me have lived it tougher and it will not be of hunger i will die
But i would not like to be wealthy and famous known to everyone in the town
I just like being ordinary old me without any claims to renown
