Iconoclast Poem by Christal Carpenter

Iconoclast

Rating: 2.8

I gave my heart to you
use me, abuse me
And say you love me too
take me, forsake me
If our love is true
image-breaker, soul-taker
I hate you

I look to the mirror
and see the old me
I try and grasp
on to the existence
that has disappeared from me

You came up behind me
and stole me away
took my innocence,
left me confused
and in pain

I tried to crawl back
but you caught me
you only let me
see the mirror
one last time

when I seen my reflection
It crumbled away
no more the old me
you smashed my hopes away

Christal, nothing's irreparable, life goes on and we learn along the way. Best
