If I could just be what I often wish
If I could stand on my feet and take the twist,
I would then be a person altogether new
Loved by many and shun by few.
If I could swim against the prevalent current
Against the gushing stream of mental torrent,
I could then be what I am presently not
A spark of Buddha disentangled from all worldly knots.
I could then raise my head high
Embrace the earth, the heaven and the star spangled sky
And lead a holy life that God from us aspire
Away, away, far away from all vainglorious desire.
A very glorious and noble thought on the occasion of Buddha Poornima. Let us all invoke Him so that the divine spark shines within us without let-up to keep us away from vainglorious desires. (10)

Dis entanglement from all worldly desires is the mantra preached by Sri Buddha to achieve calmness of spirit and eternal joy! A great poem expressing lofty aspirations on Buddha Purnima!
