If Everyone Were Like Him Poem by Francis Duggan

If Everyone Were Like Him

Rating: 5.0

Not seen as one successful a man misunderstood
And some say his ideas of a better World won't do him any good
For God or flag or Country to the death he will not fight
And others say a decent sort who has seen wisdom's light.

An anti war protestor he hates the thought of war
To march in anti war protests he has travelled far by car
Some see him as a traitor whilst others he inspire
To march in protest with one they have come to admire.

Still if everyone were like him there would be no one to fight
And there would not be any pilots to fly fighter planes at night
Above foreign cities dropping their bombs from the sky
If everyone were like him World peace we would enjoy.

If everyone were like him battles would not be lost and won
And mother would not be grieving for her lost daughter or son
And the World would be peaceful and people would live in harmony
And those who talk of a so called just war could learn from such as he.

If everyone were like him the World would be a better place
And we would find the path to harmony and peace we would embrace
To those who hate peace he's a traitor they would have him shot or hung
But to the more enlightened he is a hero unsung.
