If I Could Poem by ROOP REKHA BHASKAR

If I Could

Rating: 4.5

If I could…
Snatch the fireflies and shower on you;
Gather dewdrops, make a tiara;
Assemble the rays of the rising sun;
Make crowns, treat you like royalty, dears;
Would have spun light years……
Yesterday!

If I could……
Spear the galaxy and spike the black hole;
Filch the nebula to make a trail;
For you to walk along this Milky Way;
So your feet won’t sore, as you tread.
Would have tussled, unruffled
Yesterday!

If I could…
Fly – And collect clouds that floats;
Touch the heavens and bring back angels;
Steal a shooting star for you
To wish; and just get lucky;
Would have lifted the wings off Eos
Yesterday!

If I could……
Whip the rainbow off the sky;
Cascade its colors on yourself;
Fuse it with the seven seas,
And bind the universe around it;
For you to ride on top of the crest;
I would have triumphed
Yesterday!

But alas!
I’m but as human, as all mothers are;
Though my wishes for you, colossally special
As non-other.

I’m Just a dot in this cosmos;
Though I try – try and perhaps collapse often.
Yet wake up always to a beautiful vision.
To put your dream, in your hands.

If i could hold you close to my heart;
And tell you that the biggest gift;
What God showered on me -
Is that He put you in my arms

And wish to always keep you there
If I Could.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
dedicated to parents and children. Parents want to offer the best for their children. sometimes we go over board. Sometimes we fail. And I hope that all children realize that parents do everything but expect nothing in return; but love.

Poetry is such term where there is no saturation. The ocean may dry up but poetry will never. Poetry makes all impossible to possible. This is also one that inspired me again. A very splendid exquisite write. Thanks for sharing.

Splendid Roopa....! What fantastic images! Yes, we, as parents, long to give all that is within our reach and beyond to make our children happy! This has been the same with our parents too! But could we fathom the depth of their love in full measure then..... I really wonder! So... even if our children fail, we can we blame them? If i could hold you close to my heart; And tell you that the biggest gift; What God showered on me - Is that He put you in my arms.......... Love these lines! Top marks!

My God what kind of an imagination is that dear Roopa. a shower of fireflies, dewdrops, light and light years, crown, walking along the milky way, clouds that float, whipping the rainbow, bind the universe around, ..-. but i am just a dot, a wonderful mother. i want to put the dream in your hands. ohhhhhhhhhhhh lovely Rupa, marvellous. i like poets and poetesses writing in very simple words and full with images and symbols. loved ur poem. God bless you
