If I Die Before I Awake Poem by Bullion Grey

If I Die Before I Awake

Once in this life,
death finally rattles the cage,
and off we are to destinations unknown.
We worked hard through our birth,
climbed desperately out of our youth,
then struggled along into adulthood.
If we live a life of opposites or slumber in a labor of living,
there is really no difference, all is along the dull path,
lit by Spirit. Walking as if a sleep, and deep in a dream,
we think we are awake.

But more and more do awaken in this life than ever before.
Those who remain asleep,
act in a sort of trance,
unconsciousness,
without being aware of this reality.
Those fortunate and hard working soul’s who strive to wake
during their living days have moved forward before
they even know it themselves.

Life is full of small deaths and small births before that momentous event where our selves are scooped up and transported to regions of other dimensions. We need, at least I need to awaken, rise from this unconscious’s slumber.

Please Lord, once this life is rattled by death let it be after we awaken. But if I die before I awake,
let me give more than I take.
Let these days be an example of Grace,
presented in Love,
in every trace.
