If I Should Leave Poem by Edwina Reizer

If I Should Leave

If I should leave before you
on a day that there’s no sun,
then look beyond all the clouds
and pick out the cloudiest one.
For right behind that cloud you see
is where I am my love.
And when that cloud goes away
I’ll know you’ve risen above
all the days and nights you lived
and wondered where I was?
Maybe you thought we’d never meet
for isn’t that what love does?
It makes you understand your plight
and wish it to be undone.
But no fear my love, I’ve waited.
And behind that cloud is the sun.
