If I Was Like The Tide Poem by Alfred Ramos

If I Was Like The Tide

If I was like the tide
There would be no place to hide
Sliding in and slipping out over and over again
And if I was a wave
I’d be taking more than I gave
Rushing in and crashing in over and over again
The sun sinks into the horizon
Turning the sea a coral red
The sandy shore turns cool at my feet
Stars start to sprinkle the sky overhead
The roar of the ocean
Can put silence in your soul
Close your eyes
And let the night take control
Like a lost ship at sea
That doesn’t know where to turn
You are a mystery to me
A lesson in love I have yet to learn
If I was like the ocean breeze
Stop and start as I please
Blowing in your face over and over again
And if I was a crescent moon
I’d make every lover swoon
Joining heart and soul over and over again
As darkness engulfs me
A silent fog wraps itself around me
Misty memories of you
Rush in like the tide to astound me
