If I Were Poem by Randy McClave

If I Were

If I were a rich man,
I would buy you all that you would need,
I would give you all that you wanted,
You would own all, that you did see.
And if I were a smart man
You would be a smart person too
All that I knew, you would also know,
No knowledge could ever I keep from you.

If I were a Strong man,
Then with my hands I'd build you a home,
I would work so hard every day and night,
'Your Wish', is all that I would moan.
And If I were a brave man
No person would I be afraid to fight,
I would take on any who made you cry,
And always, would I be at your side.

If I were a handsome man
There would be harmony between us two,
For then people would stare, as I walk on air,
But never, could I match the beauty of you.
But my ifs are a lot like my dreams,
I know that they will never come true,
Though still I do dream, and still I do wish,
Only truth is, that I will always love you.
