If I Were A Poem by Randy McClave

If I Were A

If I were a Roman living in the province of Judaea
I know I would have had this thought and idea,
When they were told to drape my Lord in violet
I would not had supported Rome or Pontius Pilate.

If I were a patriot in the American revolution
If victory was my quest and solution,
No one would had been shocked or startled
I would not have supported the British or Benedict Arnold

If I were a German in the 1930s
If I saw and I heard everyone's worries and pleas,
Towards the country and government I would had been bitter
I would not have supported the Nazis or Adolph Hitler.

I am an American living in the year 2025
I hope and I pray this decade in the U.S we can survive
As President we have a liar a con a bully and a rump
I will not support a wannabe dictator, Donald Trump.
