If I Were Dying Poem by Juan Olivarez

If I Were Dying

If I were dying,
In the morning.
I would order pizza,
And a six pack.
I mean,
I might as well,
Go happy huh?

If I were dying,
In the afternoon.
I'd order tacos,
With lots of salsa picante.
That way,
My heart burn,
Would be gone,
By evening.

If I were dying,
At night.
I'd probably order,
An egg salad sandwich.
No need for an upset stomach,
On my deathbed.
