If in my life
I could end one person's strife,
If I could dry up just one tear
Then joy from me you will hear.
I would continually wear a smile on my face,
Which sadness could not ever erase.
If in my life
God had given me a wife,
Who to keep and hold and love at my side
In my eyes there would be a never ending joy and pride.
There would be a twinkle in my eye,
And everyone would know just why.
If in my life
I could play a piano or a guitar or a fife,
I would then write and play a beautiful melody
Then everyone would smile happily.
Then I would add and play another string,
Where everyone would just dance and sing.
If in my life
I was given a long sharp knife,
It I would then most happily take
I would then slice a piece of cake.
I'd give a slice to anyone who would ask,
Then in their happiness, I would bask.
If in my life
If hate and sadness and hurt wasn't rife,
I'd wonder what I would do
I wonder if I would even have a clue.
If only I could follow the twine,
If in this life of mine.
