If Not Me Then Who? - Poem by Ojimu Sunday David
Sometimes I don't like me
All because I am not living up to my expectations
Always falling behind schedules and sometimes failing to do the right things
Though I try as much as possible to keep my head and be myself
Somehow I still find myself wanting to be someone else
Who..? I can hear you say..?
Someone that has everything plus one
Someone with a princely oratory and comely appearance
In the course of trying to be the man in my imaginations all I get is me
Then I wonder if I am not me then who would I rather be?
Nobody, is what my mind says, who do you think?
Look me in the eye and say it to myself if you think otherwise
