If only
A summers day, beneath an oak tree,
It's broad leaves offer shelter, for you and me,
From the noon day sun, the sweltering heat,
A place where my love and i come to meet,
Before us are spread, fields of golden corn,
Farmhands wilting, exhausted and forlorn,
Toiling hard until the end of the day,
But still beneath the oak tree we lay,
Dusk is upon us, and all has gone calm,
The workers retired, returned to their farms,
Now the Sun sinks below the horizon,
Gives way to a spectacle equally mesmerizing,
The celestial display, that's been waiting all day,
For the opportunity to shine, our milky way,
Shooting stars, on a never ending journey,
Distant stars, that make us wonder, are we?
Alone in this vast expanding universe,
Or are we just part of something more diverse,
Just one of many species looking up to the sky,
Wondering if it's just you and i,
Sitting on this rock, floating through space,
Beneath this oak tree, in a loving embrace,
I've been here so long, the sun begins to appear,
The dawn of a new day....but something's not quite clear,
I'm sitting beneath the great oak tree, the sun is beaming,
But all the time, i've just been dreaming,
I have no love, i'm all alone, just me,
I've been in a land i wish that could be,

A summers day, beneath an oak tree is amazingly perceived and this is beautifully presented through dream and reality in perception with hope of expression of love. An amazing poem is well drafted...10
Thank you Kumarmani, it started off as a poem about a journey, from the oak tree, into the cosmos, then back to the oak tree, but developed into something else as I neared the end, a tale of loneliness, desire for love, companionship
