If there is a God, I wonder what
Such a Being would think of
The relentless sowing and reaping
Of exotic notions throughout the ages
Courtesy of innumerable philosophers
I guess He or She would mention
Not being able to perceive the wood
For the trees, so to speak, or words to
That effect. Perhaps, if there is God
Such a Being wouldn't be so convoluted
And be more like Lao Tzu and the wondrous
Ways of the Tao. Perhaps such a Being would
Simply urge us to live frugally and follow
The light. Perhaps such a Being would tell
Us firmly, yet gently. to cease striving, to
Be kind to others and leave dark paths behind.
