Ignorance [from 'naaladiyaar' In Tamil] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Ignorance [from 'naaladiyaar' In Tamil]

321. Graceful words of virtues of the loving men
are things great to the poets! But the crass morons
scoff at those words of virtues as the ladle
knows not the taste of the milk-porridge.

322. The dog of a mean worker, which bites and eats
the flesh isn't aware of the taste of milk-rice.
When people with no envy preach virtues
The wicked people don't lend their ears to hear.

323. Knowing that they lose their life in a wink's time
They don't render a bit of help to others.
It doesn't matter if the shameless foolish men
are living or dead in this world.

324. Life is brief for one. No guarantee for life
in these days. Some may abuse and accuse.
Smile with whom you see in this world. Why should you
gain enmity from whom you meet?

325. Taking part in an assembly, one man went
to the front and chided another.
If the man railed at kept silence, the first one
should kill himself or an odd being he'd be.

326. Before aging swells, make efforts to do
deeds of virtues. Or else your housemaid herself
will expel you from your house,
saying, "Go out" or " Keep out of the house".

327. Don't enjoy the wealth; don't do good
to the deserving; be craved to amass wealth.
Not active in acts of virtues to save all.
Thus the morons spend idly their lifetime.

328. The stupids don't take the parcels of virtues
on their shoulders in youth to reach heaven.
They catch hold of the wealth and ignore virtues.
Their signs on hidden gold at death seem sour*fruits.

329. The morons don't think of next birth in drought
or in ill-health to give.In times of riches
they don't care for virtues or for the birth next
even a bit to the size of mustard seeds.

330. Alas! Those who are fortunate to take birth
as humans, see the noose hurled by the Death-god,
to take up the souls of most loved partners. Yet
they forget virtues and be idlers in life.
