Illegible Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Illegible

Illegible

One of books studied
-as "Text" was the "Scorch! "

A mother, daughter, son
-no word to, say, talk of
-though all tools were applied.

Finally, she left and the lawyer
-gave each of children a letter;
-one to girl, another
-to her lone-brother:
- "Go search for the father, brother! "

And at end we find out:
-two of men show as one.

The man raped own mother!
-he was raised; child-soldier!

In Upper Canada, I, tonight,
-saw a boy, almost five
-with some girls in same range,
-and a male observer! (A father? !)

A sign in the boy's hand
-printed in fine fonds
-was dark, illegible,
-like most panhandlers'!

Plan was open and obvious;
-I shouted: "I love you; will return."

Went back and hugged one and
-handed her a Toonie
- "Give drink to other…"

Felt free and great
-exactly as I feel when seeing
-one legged with two canes
-standing at signal, very firm, strong
-burned in sun of summer; deeply red!

kids took me to States
-and years of younger age!

School kids went on bikes
-with papers; to each house.
-Lifted one off basket
-to throw it furthest…
- (an income to spend!)

Sissies were fewer
-and crimes limited
-proudly learned to earn,
-work, become confident.

Now, kids are like poppies
-leashed, carried in back seats
-or left with some nannies
-in condos, nurseries…

"Get them out to man up."
"Train them to care, love."

Have been, are slogans
-needed for social life.

Let the kids touch fire
-and distance not to burn.

Warn them to be careful
-but not lost in the tools
-like cellphone and tablet.

Inform them of nature
-and caring for ragged
-who if left and ignored
-as lonesome with hunger
-can become dangerous
-with big bag full of hate
-for men and for women
-for the simple pivots
-as leaders and workers
-who can be devoted!
