Illusionary Voices Poem by John Leroy Maxwell

Illusionary Voices

As I carry myself to oblivion, jumping o'er the hedge of life,
to the edge of self destruction
Words open in my head like a voice that comes and goes,
with the shadows of my periphery
I scream and scream for eternal peace, peace within, unrequited
Words filling me up with anguish, that oppresses me, as I drag
the dreadful burdens of my soul o'er the hedge of life,
to the edge of self destruction
Again, and again, and again
